“Richard Maddock is an extraordinary composer whose music has captivated audiences and dancers worldwide. His albums for dance classes are beloved across the globe, inspiring both dancers and teachers to bring movement to life through his uniquely creative compositions. In addition to his work for dance, Richard has created beautiful pieces for improvisation and yoga, and his calming melodies are perfect for peaceful moments, like a walk along the beach.
Richard’s diverse range of music led me to collaborate with him on an ambitious project—composing 200 original pieces for the Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) syllabus. His music brings energy, artistry, and motivation to each exercise, and we are thrilled to soon launch it on our global app for PBT members.
Throughout the project, Richard proved to be incredibly reliable, meeting every deadline with ease and always delivering above expectations. His talent, professionalism, and collaborative spirit make him a joy to work with, and I highly recommend him for any composition project. You will not be disappointed.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Richard Maddock's compositions to any and all who love beautiful music. As a choreographer I have adored working with a variety of his arrangements, so much so that I am constantly recommending his music to other dancers and choreographers for their own personal use, and to teachers and studio owners for their classes. His work is detailed and magnificently laid out in a format that teachers will love and appreciate, so well thought out that the only thing better would be to have Richard in your classroom as a live accompanist. And on a personal level one favorite of mine in particular "The Garden Within" is the perfect start to my day. Thank you Richard for sharing your talent and your beautiful music with us!”

“Richard is a skilled composer of dance class accompaniment and I am pleased to endorse him as a generous individual with which to do business. I worked with him throughout a promotion of his music on my website and found Richard to be giving and very professional. He goes above and beyond. His warmth comes through in his music and his compositions are sensitive and supportive of the needs of a ballet teacher and the dancers in terms of musical quality, timing and dynamics. Not to mention they are lovely to listen to. I would be happy to work with Richard again and am glad to recommend him to anyone wishing to partner or support his artistic talents.”

"Richard Maddock is a refreshingly original and inspirational composer of ballet music for the classroom. Dance teachers who use cd’s will find that his work has been thoughtfully created with masterful and empirical understanding of the integral importance of music in the training of young dancers.
Richard provided many of his cd’s as awards at the 2011 American Ballet Competition and subsequently we heard from teachers how much they liked his work and how delighted they were that there was a vast library available on I-Tunes."

Ballet Studio Inspirations: Volume Two’ CD
By Richard Maddock
Reviewed by Rachael Jefferson-Buchanan
Senior Lecturer in Dance and Education Studies at Bath Spa University, UK
Richard Maddock produces ballet accompaniment of such high quality; it is almost as if he is in the studio with you when you are dancing, as the lyricism of his pieces reach out to you on so many different levels. His ‘Ballet Studio Inspirations: Volume Two’ CD provides a well constructed, logical play list for the dance teacher. It begins with barre work that includes tracks for pliés, battements tendus, battements glissés, grands battements, battements foundus, battements frappés, ronds de jambe en l’air, assemblés and more besides. In the centre work section, a wide range of accompaniment encompasses all the essentials, with several pieces provided for port de bras, pirouette, turns en diagonale, adage and allegro.
On reflection, a number of tracks remain etched in my memory, particularly the wonderful jazzy little number in 3/4 time that accompanies pliés (track 3) with its repetitive playful and joyous atmosphere that makes barre work such fun! In contrast, track 5 entitled ‘battement tendus et glissés’ is reminiscent of a warm summer’s day with soothing auditory caresses to inspire dance students and teachers alike. Russian-like qualities are evoked in the short ‘battements frappés’ piece (track 8), creating a dynamic backcloth for the required short, sharp movements. The three ‘grand allegro’ pieces are positively sumptuous (tracks 29-31), enabling traditional jumping steps to be performed whilst facilitating the dancer’s exploration of physical feats.
Although this CD is clearly designed for ballet, it also has potential within the mainstream educational sector. Indeed, it is rare to find such an assortment of piano music on one CD with pieces that are uncluttered by lyrics and additional instruments that would detract from the simplistic charm of the whole. It is certainly a CD that has been aptly named, for it promises to be an ‘inspiration’ to all who dance and all who have the pleasure of teaching dance.”

"Music for Movement and Imaginations" CD is fabulous! I use the variations of tempo to teach the children to listen to different rhythms. My pre-school students have really caught on to and love "Walk and Bounce" composition. "Run like the Wind" is very fun for teaching figure 8 formations with wands. All the music is very inspirational; one of the student's parents almost cried when she heard it while watching her dancer.”

“I have had the priviledge to have had Richard Maddock as a piano accompanist while as a student at my past studio "Dancespace." Richard is a talented pianist who has a profound understanding of classical dance and what is needed and required for any curriculum. Whether you are an instuctor that requires free/set music, Richard's music compiliation CD's will compliment any classroom setting. I am a freelance dance instructor/choreographer who has benefitted from Richard's vast music collection library. His compositions are original, unique and can be used both within the classroom as well as for recitals, competitions and choreography. I have researched other collections of classical music and was not satisfied with the quality. Richard's classical collaborations are some the best in the market, both for its quality and value...I highly recommend Richard to anyone whether you are a teacher, choreographer, or an independant freelance artist/teacher/performer...You will not be disappointed!”

Music for the heart and soul.
Welcome! Just a little intro to tell you a bit about myself. I’ve played piano since the age of 3! Fifty two years later and a day does not go by where I don’t play, and for the past four years I have performed over 1450 livestream concerts on Facebook.
For over thirty years I accompanied dancers in ballet schools across Ontario, playing for classes, exams, recitals, and performances. I also released ballet class albums for all levels which have been used in over 20,000 dance studios worldwide. I feel it to be a privilege to play a small part in bringing inspiration to dancers of all ages.
I was Co-Artistic Director of a large adult community choir ‘The Treblemakers’ for over twelve years where we performed regularly to sold out venues in several cities and towns every three to four months accompanied by fantastic professional musicians! A musical family who will forever remain in my heart as we had a good run and created many wonderful memories and friendships.
When Covid arrived, l began performing the concerts for many reasons. One of the main reasons in the beginning was to bring comfort and inspiration to the choir members who were now forced to stay in their homes, and so we played and sang together via the concerts and it helped to get through some of the difficult times. Performing the concerts eventually also became part of my survival as I was relying solely on donations from the concerts for my earnings.
Two years before Covid I became very ill and my health was deteriorating quickly with no help for my condition which at the time I didn’t realize was caused by having MCS (Multiple Chemical Syndrome). Slowly I returned to complete health just before we were told that we had to cancel our week of performances due to Covid.
Upon the arrival of Covid, my health began to deteriorate once again due to what I eventually discovered was a severe allergy to a specific chemical (propylene glycol). At one point, I weighed 105 pounds (after losing 30 pounds in a few months) and could only wear 100% organic cotton as anything else caused severe rashes and other internal symptoms. I could only eat specific food which was extremely limited and that was my meal for nearly three years as well, only being able to drink distilled water. For well over a year I stood for the concerts, as sitting wasn’t an option due to health issues. It’s been a long journey but with the help of many friends, and by prayers from everyone around the world, I have been in remission for the last two years with no symptoms.
There have been many changes in my life over the past three years and especially over the last year, and as the water passing by in the stream is never the same, each day is a new day that brings lessons and things to be thankful for. I am very thankful I have Cleo beside me as she gives unconditional love each and every day and reminds me that every day is another chance to make a difference.
I have been on the autism spectrum my entire life, although never diagnosed, I am going through the process of getting the official diagnosis. I consider it a gift, being on the Spectrum, and the experiences that go with it—even though it brings many challenges as well. I feel very blessed to be given beautiful melodies each and every day to share with whoever needs comfort and inspiration. I am forever thankful to God and to all the angels in my life who have helped me get through the most difficult transition of my life. I look forward to seeing these melodies from The Soul’s Journey Piano Series being brought to life by my dance friends through their gift and love of dance!
I wish you safe journeys always. Thank you for your support. I rely solely on my music to earn a living. As any artist knows, it’s a journey that you take on because you are compelled to. Because it is you. It is who you are. Enjoy the journey my friends, and enjoy the music! Each day is a new day to take another step towards your dreams. One day at a time. One breath……….at a time. God bless you and your families always.
